About Tyler Matson:

Tyler, the self proclaimed "Clark Kent" of House Music, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He got involved in DJing house music after the rave scene broke into pop culture during the late 90's. Parties like Nocturnal Wonderland and JuJu Beats brought elecronic music to the mainstream. These parties always featured 4 distinct sounds: techno, trance, house, and jungle. Tyler fell in love with the melodious style of house and decided to become a DJ and Producer. He spent many hours mastering the art of beat matching, mixing, and EQing house tracks. With computer music becoming more accessable, he decided to take the next step and purchase music production software. With the help of Bobby "Bounce" Valentine, he formed the Sound Suspects in 2004. They released their first record on the Mama's Home Cookin label, run by Ken from the East Coast Boogiemen. The two tracks: Mix You and Atomic, were a huge success. Tyler recalls going to the rave Nocturnal Wonderland and watching Mark Farina play Atomic in front of 2000+ screaming concert goers. Shortly after his success on Mama's Home Cookin, he released a solo EP under the Allhousemusic label. The 3 tracks were very successful, especially the track entitled "Tossin and Turnin," which sold hundreds of downloads on the online store Stompy.com

With Pioneer's revolutionary CD turntable, house music was changing. No longer did DJ's have to travel to their local mom and pop record stores to hear the latest house tracks. They could simply click and play tracks from online stores. This meant that house music was becoming easier to distribute to consumers.

Tyler began Union Recordings right after the digital music boom. It began as a small digital label with 1 goal: unite lovers of jackin, deep, disco, and funky house music. Tyler still works to achieve that goal by featuring new artists on Union every month. He has been running the label with Alejo Galvez since 2005 and every year it keeps growing, both in sales and fans.
